The Bylaws & Legislative Committee shall meet periodically to determine if amendments are needed to the Bylaws and Standard Operating Procedures and make recommendations to the membership for approval.  The committee shall also monitor major legislative developments affecting the Virgin Islands, identify issues suitable for legislative review, and propose policy solutions to improve the well-being of Virgin Islanders.  The committee shall be the liaison between the Association and the office of the Virgin Islands’ Delegate to Congress.

The Cherry Blossom committee shall be responsible for coordinating all activities dealing with the Cherry Blossom festival. This committee will determine the selection criteria for the Virgin Islands Cherry Blossom Princess. The committee will represent the Virgin Islands Association at the relevant Cherry Blossom events. The committee shall coordinate with and participate in meetings held by the National Conference of State Societies, the umbrella organization for all Cherry Blossom Princess events.

The Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee is responsible for developing, updating, and monitoring the Association’s communication policies, website maintenance, social networking accounts, and online discussion groups, as well as recommending new ways for the Association to communicate with its members and other interested parties through alternative media.

The Finance Committee is responsible for ensuring the fiscal health of the Association.  The committee shall develop fiscal procedures, review fundraising plans and the annual budget. The Treasurer shall serve as the chair of the Finance Committee.

The fundraising committee supports the financial viability of the Association and shall be responsible for planning and executing fundraising activities and raising funds to support the Association’s scholarship and other programs.

The membership committee shall be responsible for recruiting and retaining members, maintaining membership contact information, recommending dues structure, and hosting membership events. The committee shall work in conjunction with the Member–at-Large to ensure the needs of the membership are represented.

The Nominations and Elections Committee shall be responsible for collecting nominations and managing the election process to fill vacancies that occur on the Board.

The Scholarship Committee shall be responsible for coordinating the annual VIADC Scholarship program, which comprises the Robert Finch Memorial Scholarship and other scholarships.  Committee responsibilities include establishing the award criteria and deadlines; overseeing the application process; reviewing applications based on set criteria and selecting finalists for presentation to the Board and the membership.  The committee partners with the Communications and Cultural Affairs Committee to publicize the opening of the Scholarship program and to announce the recipients in the Virgin Islands.
